Happy Easter! This weekend the traditional meal is ham to celebrate the holiday. One huge side effect I see in my practice is inflammation caused by all the sodium intake after Easter. Ham, as I’m sure you know, has a lot of salt and this causes your body to retain water. This water retention may make your rings feel tighter and it also makes your discs in your back swell up and increases swelling in your joints in your spine. This swelling causes increased pressure and pain. Increased water intake can help flush the salt out of your system and chiropractic adjustments can help decrease the pressure and pain. So this weekend enjoy your dinner with family, but take it easy on the seconds (and thirds) of ham and salty foods.
