The joyful and sometimes painful holiday season is here. Pretty soon I will start to see an increase in the number of patients that have stress and strain related pain from wrapping presents. As silly as it seems, this activity often strains the upper back and neck. The most common mistake is sitting on the floor to wrap presents. It is always a better idea to set up a wrapping station on a large table, like your dining room or kitchen table. This way you are not bent over and sitting on the floor in a flexed forward position. Another good trick is to make sure you are wearing good supportive shoes while standing to wrap. And finally give yourself some breaks and try to plan ahead and don’t do it all in one day.
Happy Holidays and we look forward to helping you through the most wonderful time of the year.
