Well for starters I will talk about why chiropractic care is right for you when you are in pain.  Wellness care is another topic, and covered in other blogs, and I’m sure again in the future.  But for now, let’s talk about your pain and when it is the right time to see a chiropractor.

Chiropractors are specialist in back and neck pain.  Of course the symptoms that are associated would be arm pain, leg pain, headaches and numbness or tingling.  Even shortness of breath or pain with deep breaths can be caused by a subluxated rib.  So chiropractic care can help all of these symptoms.  I like to use the analogy of a dentist a lot in my blogs.  I think the two professions are closely related.  If you want to get your teeth cleaned or a cavity fixed you go to your dentist.  But if you need a root canal you should see a specialist, an endodontist.  An endodontist spends all day doing root canals.  For you and me it is a big procedure, but for them it’s just another day at the office.  The same is true for chiropractors, your back and neck pain is what we focus on all day long.

I see patients everyday that have back and neck pain from misalignments of their spine to disc herniations.  Patients are often concerned, scared and confused about what they should be doing for their pain.  And understandably so there are so many options for musculoskeletal pain.  Chiropractic, physical therapy, pain medications, acupuncture, acupressure, pain injections, home stretching, home gadgets that you see on tv at 2 in the morning because your back hurts and you can’t sleep…

I’m not just saying this because I’m a chiropractor, but a great place to start with your musculoskeletal pain and symptoms is a chiropractor.  We have the ability to refer you for x-rays (I use Borgess Hospital for all my imaging) and even for further studies like an MRI or CT scan.  All major insurances help you pay for the treatment also.

I know there are still people out there that need my services but really don’t know what I do or how chiropractic care can help them.  I enjoy talking to patients and educating them about their condition and if chiropractic care can help them.  If my treatment is not the right answer I will refer you to the correct provider.  Life is too short to live with pain, give me a call!
